Trip to Bruceton

Where did October go...passed so quickly! I have been neglecting our blog but will try to post more regularly. I have been spending a great deal of time making cards and posting a new blog http://theresastudio.blogspot.com/ .

We were in Tennessee recently to visit family....stopped in Nashville and saw Mary Evelyn, Mark and the kids. Visited with Mother in Bruceton for a week and saw Joe and Margie . While there, sadly, my aunt passed away and we saw more of the family at the funeral.
The fall foliage was at its peak on the drive down and back. Pictures that Al made at Mother's.

Upcoming Attraction

I have been working today on organizing our garden photos from August and should have a slideshow completed soon. Be on the watch for this coming feature! I cannot believe that August passed by so quickly!

Moon Flower in Bloom

We were late getting a moon flower planted this year since they were late arriving at the garden shop. So, we were not sure if we would even have any blooms but a bud appeared last week and we had one open this weekend. It is such a beautiful flower!

Hummingbird at the Feeder

I cannot seem to keep our hummingbird feeders filled. We have spotted several hummers feeding at our feeders and all throughout the garden, especially at the lantanas, salvia, and even the hibiscus. I need to make this short because I need to make up some more food....have been putting it off too long already.

Al Rescues a Warbler

Last Saturday Al heard a thud at the sliding glass doors in the den. Knowing that it was probably a bird, he went to investigate. He spotted a dizzy, disoriented bird on the deck. As Al approached the bird, it became frightened and fluttered away toward the pool deck below and ended up tumbling into the water. Al quickly scooped her out and put her back on the deck in a safe spot to recover from her ordeal. He made pictures of the bird as she recovered. When he went back to check her later, she had flown away. We identified the bird as a female black and white warbler.

Hot and Hibiscus in Ohio!

It has been very hot the last few days and the perennial hibiscus are in full bloom! We have had temps in the hi 80's to low 90's and it has been very humid. We are enjoying the beautiful hibiscus - the highlight of our garden this month. What a show they and the Black Eyed Susans are putting on in this heat!
